A snowy night in the neighborhood.

Chicago is notorious for its harsh winters. I can definitely confirm that. However, despite the cold winds and piles of snow, this city definitely knows how to cope with it all. A couple feet of snow? WHATEVER, DUDE. This city plows it all right up and keeps on chugging along. A friend in Atlanta told me how they recently got an INCH of snow… and there was pandemonium! Car pile ups on the high way! Schools and offices were shut down! However, I can understand that down South they hardly EVER get any snow. So it’s more like we’re more prepared and experienced for these snowy conditions.

Sure, walking in the slush is a bit annoying, but I like to think that I’ve adapted to it pretty well. And somehow, on nights like this one, the quiet fall of the snow as it hazily fills the air… very calming and serene. And how can you not love the beauty of a fresh layer of snow everywhere? It’s like everything is clearer, brighter, and more cleansed.

But the summers here… DEFINITELY worth the wait. I think they really balance each other out. I can’t wait!

I’m probably going to jynx the awesome weather we’ve been having too by posting this pic….

On my home, walking down Lakewood from Belmont.
This was last night. The snow has been coming down all day and night. Heard we’ll be getting around 18 inches. I’ll admit, watching the snow fall is really pretty, with the air being filled with big white snowflakes.
I don’t mind walking around in it as much anymore. It’s when I’m waiting on the sidewalk and a car drives by and splashes gray slush on me. Fucking annoying.

A pic of my parents’ front yard. Maryland had gotten about 2 feet of snow a few days ago. I was very surprised to see so much. If I was a kid, I’d be having the time of my life right now playing in all that snow. However, as a working adult, I dread the thought of having to either walk or drive in snow. It’s just way too messy and a hassle to deal with.
hahaha, I live in Chicago now, and I obviously have to deal with the snowy winters here. However, I think since the city gets so much snow frequently, they really know how to deal with it. Plowing the streets and shoveling the sidewalks, all the hard stuff is secondary to them. Got a foot of snow? Whatever, they keep going! An inch of snow in Maryland? They’re gonna close schools! hahaha
